NY, NY, July 12, 2019--Ford President and CEO Jim Hackett, Argo AI co-founder Bryan Salesky and VW CEO Dr. Herbert Diess announced today at a major alliance event that VW will join Ford as an equal investor in Argo, the innovative autonomous-vehicle platform company. Argo will work closely with Ford and VW to provide the AV technology required to deliver at scale safe and reliable, fully integrated self-driving vehicles for ride-sharing and goods-delivery services. VW's planned investment implies a valuation of more than $7 billion for Argo. Additionally, Diess and Hackett said Ford will become the first additional automaker to use VW's dedicated electric-vehicle architecture and Modular Electric Toolkit (MEB) to deliver a high-volume, zero-emission vehicle in Europe starting in 2023.
